4 Essential Skills for the AI Era

Hello.
I have recently been writing several articles related to marketing and AI.
Today, stepping slightly outside of marketing, I would like to write about my personal views on the perspective: **"What kind of talent will continue to hold value in the AI era?"** in general.

Regardless of specific job titles, I hope this serves as a hint for thinking about future ways of working and learning.

What kind of talent will continue to hold value in the AI era?

1. Prompt Engineering Skills (Short/Medium Term)

The first skill required to master AI is "how to ask questions," which is Prompt Engineering.
It requires the ability (skill) to clearly convey "**what the background is, who it is for, and for what purpose you want the output,**" rather than simply typing command sentences.

Similar to "search skills" on Google or "Excel shortcut knowledge," this is content that clearly depends on skill and is a technique that can be utilized immediately, even in the short term.

2. Knowledge and Mastery of AI Tools (Short/Medium Term)

AI is just a tool. However, those tools are evolving every day.
In the medium term especially, the ability to judge "which tool to choose and how to use it" in accordance with internal operations and client handling, and to master it, is essential.

The importance of skills to select and master the optimal AI tool for the task

For example, when given the same task of "creating sales materials,"

• Automatically generating meeting minutes with Notion AI, instantly sending emails to clients with Gmail + Gemini, and managing tasks with Trello + ChatGPT
• Mind-mapping issues with Whimsical, creating a structure proposal with ChatGPT + Canva Docs, turning it into a PPT with Gamma.app, and doing a final review with Claude

The question is whether you can understand the characteristics of various AIs and immediately incorporate them in line with your own work, just like the examples above.
You are tested on your ability to build an "AI stack that is optimal for you."

3. The Ability to Formulate Questions (Medium/Long Term)

Information is constantly overflowing, and AI has the power to organize, summarize, and visualize it.
However, if the human using it cannot pose the question of "**what do I want to know in the first place?**" or "**why is this information necessary?**", AI will not function correctly.

What holds value in the long term is not mere search skills, but "people who can generate questions in their own minds."

For example, in sales, the ability to extract issues during communication and put them into words corresponds to this.
I deliberately labeled this as "medium term" because I believe that with the rise of agent-type, more personalized AI, there is a possibility that even this "formulating questions" could be replaced in the future.

4. The Ability to Make Judgments (Long Term)

So, what ability will we need in an era where AI replaces many (most) things?
I believe it is "the ability to make judgments."

The importance of the final judgment power required of humans in the AI era

I believe that finally judging the method that suits your company or you personally from among a large group of organized information is something only we can do.

In my image... ultimately, I think the "work of stamping passports one after another" like at airport immigration might be the last job remaining for us.

Summary: It is "You" who uses AI

The AI era is also an era where humans are the protagonists.
It is humans who define "what to do using AI" and "what value to create."

As long as you view AI as "something to be used," your job will not disappear.
Conversely, I think the "talent who can formulate questions, utilize AI, and make final judgments" by calmly distinguishing between the areas to leave to AI and the areas humans should shoulder is what will be most demanded in society from now on.
